In this study, a uniform aluminized layer was fabricated on FeMnAlC steel using a simplified aluminizing method. The composition, wear resistance and corrosion behavior of the aluminized steel were systematically investigated. The aluminized layer, which was approximately 400 μm thick, primarily consists of Fe 2Al 5 along with minor amount of Al 4C 3. The aluminized steel exhibited significantly improved wear resistance, which can be attributed to its enhanced surface hardness and favorable elastic recovery properties. Moreover, the formation of a densely structured oxide film and the corrosion–shielding effect provided by the aluminized layer contributed to its superior corrosion performance. This work presents a straightforward and effective strategy to simultaneously improve the wear and corrosion resistance of FeMnAlC steel.
