Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) have gained significant attention for their unique advantages such as self-powering, lightweight, and flexibility, leading to their applications in various fields like industry, blue energy, power sources, and biomedical applications. However, the potential application of TENG devices in cancer treatment has received relatively little attention compared to other health-related applications. Despite the wider reach of cancer among the population, most electric-based techniques used for cancer treatment, such as electrochemotherapy (ECT) or irreversible electroporation (IRE), suffer from drawbacks like high cost and bulky units. The characteristics of TENGs offer a potential solution to address these issues. This paper provides a comprehensive review of cancer treatment methods based on electrical stimulation of tumors. It examines the mechanisms and electrical parameters of various techniques, as well as their pros and cons. Additionally, the study investigates the potential of TENGs for these techniques and explores recent advancements in this field.
