Ti6Al4V artificial joint heads are in urgent need of a coating which can improve their surface lubricity. Inspired by nature, the lubricating layer can be cemented onto the Ti6Al4V surface by mimicking the adhesion proteins secreted by mussels in the ocean. In addition to improving the lubrication performance of Ti6Al4V surface, this work also endowed the Ti6Al4V surface lubrication adjustable characteristics. By utilizing the photothermal conversion ability of MoS2 nanosheets to near-infrared (NIR) light, the generation and disappearance of hydration layer can be controlled by adjusting the interfacial temperature, so as to realize the switch between high and low friction.
